Distances: 22km / 11km / 6km

 

Start times: 8.30am / 9.20am / 10.15am

 

Finish line: Mangakino Lakefront

 

Athlete check in for registration: 7am - 9:45am at the Mangakino Lakefront

This is located at the Mangakino Lakefront from 7am to 9:45am.

 

This is where you collect your race bibs in the morning and any late entries are processed.

Note: All buses leave from the Lakefront to the three start locations.

Age Groups

This year the age groups (age as of day of event) are:​

  • 12 years and under

  • 13 to 17 years

  • 18 to 29 years

  • 30 to 39 years

  • 40 to 49 years

  • 50 to 59 years

  • 60 to 69 years

  • 70+

Age group placings are neither awarded or acknowledged however the results will appear under the above categories.

An update regarding Summer Sizzler 2022 from Waikato River Trails Trust.

 

We are checking for updates to guide the decision whether we can run a safe and enjoyable Summer Sizzler event for participants, volunteers and spectators.

 

As you know we are living in fast changing environment, at this point we don’t know enough to inform our decision.

 

We will be making a call on December the 1st on whether we can run the January 8th event. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Bus Transport & Parking

Make your race morning transportation stress-free and use our easy bus service.  The idea is to leave your car at the finish line, catch the bus to the start line and run/walk back to your car.

 

If you wish to use this service you must pre-book this before online entries close at 11:59pm 5th January 2023.

Cost $10pp - Bookings are essential

Timetable:

  • 7:40am - Bus leaves the Mangakino Lakefront to the 22km start point 

  • 8:45am - Bus leaves the Mangakino Lakefront to the 11km start point 

  • 9:40am - Bus leaves the Mangakino Lakefront to the  6km start point

Parking:  There is plenty of parking by the finish line (Mangakino Lakefront).  Please follow the signs and instructions of the parking marshals.

Participant Recommended Equipment List

Below are items that are recommended for this event:

  • Sunscreen.

  • Hat.

  • If weather is wet, a Waterproof and Windproof Jacket.  

  • Personal hydration and nutrition. NB - although aid stations are present on course they should not be relied upon as your sole source of hydration and nutrition.

  • Backpack to carry recommended items.

 

This is a recommended equipment list and is only a guideline to what participants should consider taking during the event.  It is the responsibility of the participants to participant with equipment that is suitable for the conditions and their ability.

Finish Area

  • The finish line is located at the Mangakino Lakefront.

  • All finishers will receive a medal at the finish line.

  • First Aid will be provided by Peak Safety with a station at the finish line and assistance on course.

  • Before exiting the finish area, don't forget to grab the yummy items that are available to all participants.

  • After your event, relax and enjoy around the Mangakino Lakefront, we have a variety of food vendors available (so please bring cash as not all vendors have EFTPOS facilities).

  • Plus don't forget to bring a towel for if you decide to cool off in the lake afterwards!

Prizegiving

At 12:45pm the official prize giving starts. 

 

These will be awarded to the first male and female Runner and Walker to cross the finish line for the 22km, 11km and 6km events.

 

There are also a number of great spot prizes to be given away throughout the day and at prize giving (but you have to be there to win!)

Walkers

The walk event is open to any style of walking, but walkers must NOT run!

If poles are used, please ensure they do not interfere with other entrants.

If you wish to WALK/RUN or RUN/WALK please enter as a RUNNER and start with the runners.

Only the first male/female walker for each event will be acknowledged and announced at prize giving.

Please note that due to participant numbers on the day, prams and strollers are not suitable.
