22km Fun Run/Walk

Starting from Dunhams Reserve heading north you wind your way through by the Ongaroto Bluffs up the staircase (yes up the staircase!) and then  meander your way through native bush until you reach Lake Whakamaru Reserve.  Once through the Reserve you will cross the Whakamaru Dam (please observe Traffic Control that will be in place) from here you nip back onto the trail at the 11km to go point.

A trail  that provides constant river views at each bend, then taking in the crossing of the 70m long Mangakino Suspension bridge over the Mangakino Stream .

​

The trail runs parallel to the Mangakino Golf Course winding its way along native planting and boardwalks through to the Mangakino Lakefront  for a fantastic finish.

Minimum age:

Must be 16 years of age on race day to compete

Toilets:

There are toilets at all the start lines (22km, 11km, 6km) and at the finish

Aid stations:

These are based at your 5km, 11km, 15km and 21k points and supply water and sports drink

Timing Results:

Timing results will be provided by age group category for both runners and walkers and will be based on participant's mat time

Prizegiving:

This will take place at the finish line at 12:45pm.  Only the first male and female runner and walkers to finish each event will be announced.  No age group placings are acknowledged or awarded.

Certificates will be available online to download.

Late Rego:

Unless sold out prior, this can be done on the Saturday morning from 7am at the Mangakino Lakefront.

Bus Transport:

$10pp and must be prebooked by 11:59pm 5th January 2023.  Bus leaves from the Mangakino Lakefront at 7:40am for the 22km start line.

Bus Transport and Parking

Make your race morning transportation stress-free and use our easy bus service.  The idea is to leave your car at the finish line, catch the bus to the start line and run/walk back to your car.

 

If you wish to use this service you must pre-book before online entries close at  11:59pm on the 5th January 2023.

Timetable:

  • Mangakino Lakefront > 22km start point - Bus leaves at 7:40am

  • Mangakino Lakefront > 11km start point - leaves at 8:45am

  • Mangakino Lakefront > 6km start point - leaves at 9:40am

Parking:  There is plenty of parking by the finish line (Mangakino Lakefront).  Please follow the signs and instructions of the parking marshals.

Gear Bag Drop

If you have any gear you would like to leave at the start and pick up at the finish we have a gear drop off areas at each start line and will transport your gear back to the finish area (Mangakino Lakefront).

 

Please note: Gear must be in a bag and not loose individual items.
